Welcome to the Sioux Valley Local Section Home Page. We are one of the 184 Local Sections of the American Chemical Society and our members come from all over the state of South Dakota and parts of Iowa, Nebraska & Minnesota. ACS Local Sections promote public awareness of chemistry by being involved in community outreach programs and by working with students of chemistry and science. We hope to encourage an interest in the chemical sciences. If you are interested in becoming a member of ACS, please go to http://www.acs.org for more information. If you are already an ACS member and would like to join our Local Section, please call or e-mail the chair (Rachel Willand Charnley) or another officer.
Our social media person is Melody Jewell, please send her your web listings!
A link to the Councilor's report from the 2023 Fall National Meeting in San Francisco is here – please let our councilor (Jetty Duffy-Matzner) know if you have any questions. You can also find the report from the Committee on Nomenclature, Terminology, and Symbols (NTS) here – please let our alternate councilor (Adam Sturlaugson) know if you have any questions.
Volunteers are always welcome!
We are seeking volunteers to contribute to the section. All members who are willing to help in any capacity are more than welcome! From student members to established chemists! Contact chemistry@siouxvalleyacs.com or any of the officers by email if you are interested.
